Congratulations Cono and Ana DePaola!
We are extremely proud to announce the presentation of the Lifetime Achivement Award to Cono DePaola and his wife Ana by the Carole Mastroddi Foundation on Saturday, January 23, 2010. This award was given in honor of their selfless service to helping those in need, especially children. Besides volunteering at our outreach pantry services in Coney Island, Cono and his wife sponsor children from other countries who need open heart surgery by opening thier home to their families while the children undergo surgery and recovery sponsored by Gift of Life, Inc.
Cono's affiliation with the Verazzano Rotary Club, Brooklyn and their support has been a major part of our success in serving the hungry, homeless and poor in Coney Island on the streets near Nathan's. As a member of the rotary club, it was not enough for Cono to fundraise and donate to The River Fund. He wanted to see what we do and since his first day of volunteering, he has not stopped coming to Coney Island to feed people in need.
Because of their dedication to the less fortunuate, he and his wife Ana live as examples to others on how to make a difference in the lives of people in need...whatever their circumstances may be.
Cono and Ana were presented with a $500 donation from Capital One, Inc. in honor of his service which he donated to The River Fund. Swami Durga Das and several volunteers were in attendance and were grateful to witness this recognition of a truly special couple.
