Key Staffer, Shirley Rice Presents at Food Bank for NYC's Annual Conference

Key River Fund staffer, Shirley Rice was a presenter at the Food Bank of NYC’s annual conference in January. Shirley shared her experience in administering the Food Bank’s pilot program, Cookshop for six weeks this summer to members of our Client Choice Pantry.

Thirty children and their parents/guardians were instructed in nutrition, how make healthy food choices and create a food budget. The children and adults demonstrated how to make a healthy meal recipe created my gourmet chef Mario Batali specifically for this program.

At the end of each Cookshop the participants were given a pantry bag filled with the ingredients used in the recipe so they could prepare the same dish for their families.

This was a successful program and everyone who participated thoroughly enjoyed learning!
